IPv6 Training, 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
As we get closer to exhausting the remaining pool of IPv4 addresses, new, longer IPv6 addresses will become critically important. Are you up to speed when it comes to this important new technology? Come to this training session and learn the basics of how IPv6 works and how it will impact messaging at your company. Presented by Joe St. Sauver, MAAWG Senior Technical Advisor.

How to Troubleshoot DKIM Failures, 9:45 a.m. – 11:0 a.m.
Ever have DKIM fail and not know why? Our panel of experts will delve into why DKIM fails and walk participants through how to troubleshoot failures. Participants are encouraged to provide examples prior to the session for live troubleshooting. E-mail your questions and issues by 9/29/10 to training@maawg with the subject line “DKIM Issues for Training.” Questions will be forwarded to the session presenters.

Large Group Collaborative Techniques, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Quite often, in the course of our work we’re asked to facilitate a large group collaborative discussion to gather information on BCPs, get feedback on a document we have developed, or solicit other group input. However, lacking effective tools or processes for leading this type of discussion, we typically end up with few people volunteering information or participating in the discussion.  This workshop will train participants on some tried and true techniques and processes for maximizing participation, especially when time is of the essence and many people are involved. Having some facilitation experience is preferred but not necessary for attending this workshop. No pre-work is required. Presented by Michael Goldman, president, Facilitation First.

*Responsible Handling of Child Pornography and Safeguarding Exposed Employees, 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
During the course of business, employees may be exposed to child sexual-abuse images (also referred to as child pornography). This session will provide guidance, insight into reporting requirements and suggestions for how to safeguard employee wellness before and after exposure.
*NOTE: Due to the sensitive nature of this topic and our desire to keep the conversation on topic, you must send a brief explanation of your involvement in child pornography information handling to training@maawg.org by 9/29/10 to participate in this session. Once your request is received by MAAWG, we will confirm your attendance prior to the meeting. No walk-ins will be allowed at this session.

Data Visualization Training, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Facilitator April Lorenzen of Umbra Data promises to help you transform "billions of raw ugly datapoints into meaningful wow factors" in this 1.5 hr training session. Free cross-platform data visualization software will be provided to each registered participant on a USB stick to use during the workshop and to take home. Focus will be on do's and don'ts; participant challenges, frustrations and successes in communicating trends; and making decisions based on large scale data visualization. Real-time updating charts, world maps, gauges, graphs and automating methods will be shared. Participants who bring sample data will be assisted in applying the techniques as an example for the group. The intended audience is those who share data collaboratively within MAAWG as well as ISP members who need to lead management to decisions based on trends in log files and high volume activities.

MAAWG Training Series Video: DKIM Implementation

The new four-part tutorial by leading experts on DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) looks at the standard for using cryptographic signing to identify an organization that is taking responsibility for a message, and is the first video in the MAAWG Training Series.  Originally presented in February 2010 at a MAAWG general meeting, the complete course is one hour and 40 minutes and is delivered in 20 to 35-minute segments covering theory and implementation.

Both instructors have been active in the standard development process and industry adoption efforts.  Dave Crocker, MAAWG senior advisor and principal of Brandenburg InternetWorking, also oversees DKIM.org.  Murray S. Kucherawy, Cloudmark principal engineer, is the primary author of both Sendmail libdkim and OpenDKIM, the most widely used open source DKIM software.
